Put a blazer on it

March 19, 2019

What is it about a blazer that can make an outfit look so chic? Put it over your favorite vintage t shirt to dress it up or over a sexy frock to dress it down. This amazing vintage multicolored plaid blazer came into my life when Cavina from Through & Through Collective reached out to me to do a collaboration. Through & Through Collective was started by Cavina Willson and Holly Lee and is somewhat of an insta thrift store where you can easily shop their stories for clothing, jewelry and even home goods. They love seeking out and providing their customers with affordable fashion, reviewing products and overall want to help inspire others. I wasn’t sure what kind of piece I wanted to style but I knew I would know it when I saw it. Cavina had recently been to Thailand and I loved seeing her vintage and second hand finds on their stories while she was there. When she showed me this over-sized blazer that she found in a second hand shop right in the heart of Bangkok I knew it was the one.

Outfit 1: The Biker Short

I am absolutely loving the biker short trend and I can’t wait to break out these black lacy high waisted ones from Forever 21 when the weather finally warms up. I paired them with a baby pink vintage cropped t shirt from Powder Vintage and my Steve Madden Winona rhinestone booties. I wanted to wear multiple chain necklaces and these delicate vintage chains reworked by Caroline of ACF Jewelry were the perfect pairing. In keeping with this cool girl vibe I topped it off with some golden mirrored cateye sunglasses sent to me by Diff Eyewear.

Outfit 2: Comfy Casual

One night my husband and I wanted to go to Copper Cellar for burger night (we like to sit at the bar and I always order a Cosmo), so I just threw this outfit together and ended up really loving it. It was a simple combination of a sweater, jeans and Dr. Marten’s but adding a blazer instantly elevated the look. The cream sweater was a perfect backdrop to highlight all the beautiful colors while my vintage black 90’s Bongo jeans matched the background of the blazer and made the look cohesive.

Outfit 3: Date Night

There’s something so sexy about a simple slip dress. I have been wanting one for so long and was very excited to find this vintage gold label Victoria’s Secret 100% silk dress. In particular I loved the midi length, the bright magenta color and how the sides sloped down into a low back. I mean, who doesn’t love a good side boob?! I love the headband trend that’s been popping up but can’t justify spending $150 on a Lele Sadoughi just yet, so I tied one of my vintage ones in a knot and called it a day. In keeping with the effortless feeling of the dress I layered more of ACF Jewelry’s delicate creations. The solitaire pink fresh water pearl necklace mirrored the dress in both color and in classic beauty and I am obsessed with her elegant bolo tie slid chain.
