Queen of Spades

January 30, 2019

This dress was another find from Capture Boutique in Knoxville, TN. I remember the moment when I saw this piece. It was naturally in rack of other dresses and all I saw was the arm poking out but I was immediately drawn to it’s bold colors. I love that moment in thrifting or vintage shopping when you spot just a bit of something that excites you. The thrill in that moment of possibly discovering something magical is a feeling I notice and value regardless of the outcome. This encounter, however, turned out very well. This dress was like nothing I owned. I naturally loved the bold geometric print of primary colors mixed with black and white but fell in love even more when I put it on, The feminine 40’s silhouette nipped in at my waist perfectly and the rayon fabric allowed it to move with ease.

It was a no brainer to pair it with my vinyl mod diamond print purse. I bought this on Ebay ages ago and it has proven to be more versatile than I ever imagined. I loved how the diamond shapes played on the geometric theme happening in the dress. In keeping with shapes I chose these Zara gold dangle ball earrings. I liked that they were still a basic shape but this time a round one rather than having any sharp lines like that in the dress or purse. To top it off (pun intended. Ha!) I donned this exquisite red rabbit fur beret that I found on Etsy. For added warmth in these cooler months I added some yellow tights. These were just a cheap pair from HUE that I bought a few years ago. I have worn them a ton and they’ve held up great. And last but not least I would be a fool not to wear my beloved red Prada mary janes. The unusual shape of the heel was once again a perfect play on shapes and their bright color and feminine design made them the perfect pairing.

While this look is very bold this dress would also look great with a pair of simple black boots of your choosing and some geometric Cold Gold earrings like these.
